16 May McNeil, Horne tour Marid Industries
Liberal leader Stephen McNeil joined Waverley-Fall River-Beaver Bank candidate Bill Horne in touring Marid Industries, a leading custom steel manufacturer in Windsor Junction, on May 15.
McNeil and Horne were given a fascinating tour of Marid’s operations by Tim Houtsma, VP of Projects and Engineering at the company, which employs dozens in the area.
Past Marid projects include providing steel components for Halifax Harbour Bridges, the Truro Hospital and the NSCC waterfront campus in Dartmouth.
The Liberal Party is committed to supporting businesses like Marid and the good, middle-class jobs that they create. This support includes an $18.2 million investment over the next four years to enhance skills training that is essential for jobs like those at Marid. The investment will support more than 700 new apprenticeship opportunities and allow more Nova Scotians to get the best possible start in their careers.
Expansion of apprenticeship programs is part of the broader Liberal agenda to create a stronger Nova Scotia through sound fiscal management, enhanced opportunities for young people and investment in health, education, tourism, exports, and other key sectors.
