Bill Horne was elected to the Nova Scotia Legislature in October 2013 as the member for Waverley-Fall River-Beaver Bank.
He was born in Eastern Passage, moved to Dartmouth in 1960 and upon completion of his Bachelor of Science degree from Saint Mary’s University, moved to his home in Wellington in 1973.
During Bill’s career, he spent 25 years as a chemist for Environment Canada at the Bedford Institute of Oceanography supervising a chemistry lab engaged in water, air and sediment studies for Atlantic Canada. In 1995, Bill worked with Environment Canada as an Environmental Assessment and Environmental Emergencies officer and retired in 2007.
With the support of his wife of 47 years, Pam, and his 2 daughters, Tracey and Kelly, Bill has been passionately working in the community helping those in need. The desire to be a community advocate led to him winning the municipal seat for this area in 1988. He has supported and been involved in many local volunteer organizations over the last 40 years, most notably, 25 years as a member of the Lion’s Cub and a life-time member of the Wellington and Fletchers Lake Volunteer Fire Department.
